Jesús Velázquez did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Ft. Myers Marlins from losing, 4-3, to the Santa Barbara Golden Cranes at League Park. Velázquez went 3 for 3 with a home run and a triple. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Bryan Griffin, the winner, improved to 2-4. He held the Marlins to 3 runs on 5 hits over 7.2 innings, while striking out 2 and walking 4. Stephen Hollingsworth collected save number 6.

Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Claude Decker? The Santa Barbara third baseman had a run-scoring single in the top of the fourth inning to put the Golden Cranes on top, 4-0. For the game, Decker had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
