San Mateo Gets 8-7 Win
Fans watched the San Mateo Dirty Reds and the Hollywood Shredders fight to the finish.

San Mateo first baseman Matsusuke Saikawa helped his team beat the Hollywood Shredders, 8-7. Saikawa, who is tied for 9th in the PL in doubles with 14, went 2 for 3 for the Dirty Reds. Jorge González, the winner, goes to 5-5. He allowed 4 runs on 9 hits, with 2 walks and 3 strikeouts over 6.1 innings.

With San Mateo leading 4-3 in the top of the fifth, Saikawa hit a fastball from Tony Cowan for a run-scoring double. It was his 14th double of the season and put the Dirty Reds ahead, 5-3.

"We played hard and won," said Saikawa. "Sometimes, baseball really is that easy.'

The Dirty Reds now have a record of 27-25.
