Marlins Sneak Past Nobles, 5-4
|
With designated hitter Rommel Fflunker leading the charge, the Ft. Myers Marlins defeated the Bakersfield Nobles, 5-4, at Jerome Grounds. Fflunker was 1-2 with a home run and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Ricardo Ramírez, who went 7 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 3 runs on 6 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 4. His record now stands at 2-0. The save was credited to William Kelly, his 3rd.
Ft. Myers used the timely hitting of Jesús Velázquez to seize the win. The third baseman stroked a 2-run single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Marlins on top, 5-3. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Feels good to get the job done," Fflunker said after the game.
The loss drops Bakersfield to 4-5.
