Hartford Pride starter Lando de Ruijter pitched a strong game against the Austin Black Mambas at Pride Park, leading the Pride to victory, 4-1. de Ruijter picked up the win for Hartford, going 6.2 innings. He gave up no runs on 4 hits. He now sports a record of 1-0. The loss puts Austin at 2-5.
The Pride got an important contribution from center fielder Habib Othman, who in the bottom of the third knocked a 1-1 changeup into right for a 2-run double. It was his 2nd double of the season and put the Pride ahead, 3-0.
"Got a lot of swings and misses today," said de Ruijter.
