Bakersfield Nobles starter Miguel López pitched his team past the Ft. Myers Marlins, 6-1. López went 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 1, and struck out 5. His record improves to 1-1.

The Marlins had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Nobles going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 25-year old right fielder Jorge Gómez came to the plate. Gómez hit a 3-run home run on a full count cutter from Ft. Myers hurler Sun Tah. It was Gómez's 2nd home run of the year.

"I don't feel you win baseball games by working harder than the other team or 'wanting it more,'" Gómez told the Bakersfield Bulletin. "You win just by scoring more runs."

The win gives the Nobles a record of 4-3.
