Bakersfield starter Iiri Lahti put a stranglehold on the Austin offense. The right-hander had complete command of his cutter in leading the Nobles to a 2-1 win. Lahti got the win, improving to 1-0. He allowed 3 hits and walked 1 over 7 innings. Lahti allowed 1 run. The win gives Bakersfield a record of 3-3.

Had Nathan Nelson not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Nelson hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Nobles.

"We were the better team today. Maybe that won't be the case next game, but we'll enjoy it for now," Lahti told the Bakersfield Bulletin.
