Marlins Cut Down Pride, 3-2
|
Pride Park was the site of a tense game between the Hartford Pride and Ft. Myers Marlins.
Getting an impressive start from Gary Norman, Ft. Myers beat Hartford by the score of 3-2. In 6.1 innings, Norman surrendered 4 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 1. He allowed 2 runs. Picking up the save was William Kelly, his 1st.
Tied up with the Pride in the top of the fourth inning, the Marlins got a boost from third baseman Jesús Velázquez. With runners on 1st and 2nd, Velázquez saw a 2-2 splitter from John Lee and hit a run-scoring single to break the stalemate and put Ft. Myers on top, 2-1.
After the game, Velázquez told the Ft. Myers Chronicle, "Like I've always said, the challenge is what makes this game worth playing."
The loss drops Hartford to 2-1.
