Monongahela picked up a win at Timber Hawks Ballpark, bumping off the Norfolk Pajaritos, 3-1. Pitcher Clayton Thomas was a major reason the Monsters emerged victorious. Félix González, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 1st save. Norfolk falls to 1-1.

With runs few and far between, the Monsters had to seize their opportunities when they came. One of the most important chances for Monongahela came in the bottom of the third inning, when designated hitter Júlio Castillo delivered a run-scoring single. The single was hit off Thomas Rice and made the score 1-0, Monsters. Castillo went 2-4 with 2 singles.

"This was a tough loss," said Norfolk manager José Rodríguez. "It'll stick in my craw for a while."
