Squirrel Monkeys Squelch Tritons Offense in Shutout Win
|
The Syracuse Squirrel Monkeys picked up a win at Jersey City Grounds, knocking off the Jersey City Tritons, 3-0. On the mound for Syracuse was left-hander Ronald Love, who played a pivotal role in the win. Love, now 8-7, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 3, walking 1, and allowing no runs. Harold Hunter earned his 11th save in 13 chances.
Syracuse took a 2-0 lead on Orlando Yerro's 4th home run of the season. The solo home run came off Jersey City pitcher Edwin Perry in the top of the seventh.
"It was a tough night at the plate," said Jersey City manager Darryl Gordon.
With the win, Syracuse raised its record to 57-43.
