Tritons Take Down Brass, 5-4

The Jersey City Tritons had to overcome a fine effort from Baton Rouge pitcher Ángel Díaz to grab a narrow 5-4 win at Brass Field. Díaz went 6.1 innings and allowed 3 runs. Jonathan Young earned the save for Jersey City, his 8th of the year. With the win, Jersey City pushed its record to 45-40.
Jersey City used a timely hit from Sergio Núñez to get the win. The shortstop stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Tritons ahead, 4-3. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it made an impact.
"We squandered some opportunities," said Baton Rouge manager Daniel Edwards.
