Redlegs Rally For 2-1 Win
|
The Sacramento Redlegs had to overcome a fine effort from Baton Rouge pitcher Ramón Marte to grab a narrow 2-1 win at Brass Field. Marte went 6 innings and allowed 1 run. Sacramento reliever You-liang Xin was the winner. His record is now 1-1. The losing pitcher was Kelly Knowles. The save went to Félix Hernández, his 18th this season.
Sacramento used a clutch hit from Colton Donnelly to snatch the win. The second baseman belted a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Redlegs ahead, 2-1. It was his only hit, but it was huge.
"Runs were tough to come by," said Donnelly. "But we scored just enough to win."
The 7th-place Redlegs are 35-40.
