Redlegs Hang 3-1 Loss on Buzz
|
The Sacramento Redlegs had to overcome a fine performance from Salt Lake City pitcher Jorge Valdéz to grab a 3-1 win at Sacramento Sanitation Station. Valdéz allowed 2 runs over 7.1 innings. Félix Hernández recorded the save for Sacramento, his 17th of the season. At 32-37, the Redlegs find themselves in 7th place in the Premier AAA.
The Redlegs got an important contribution from shortstop Duane Mullins, who in the bottom of the third hit a 1-2 changeup into right for a solo home run. It was his 4th home run of the season and put the Redlegs ahead, 2-1.
Afterward, Redlegs manager John Brown was ebullient. "That was a fun game to coach," he told a group of reporters, adding, "I hope it was just as fun to watch."
