Rainbeaus Deal Starks 3-2 Setback
|
Jorge Vázquez could take little solace in pitching a good game. The fact is his Syracuse Starks lost, dropping a 3-2 decision to the Kansas Rainbeaus at Wichita Field. Kansas reliever Arturo Sánchez picked up the win, raising his record to 2-2. Jorge Vázquez was tagged with the loss. The save went to Alberto Ramos, his 2nd this season.
Had Juan Martínez not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 3rd, Martínez hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Rainbeaus.
Syracuse manager Ramón García said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
Kansas is now 27-33.
