Humpbacks Deal Dodos 6-3 Defeat
|
The Alaskan Humpbacks topped the Hialeah Dodos, 6-3, in USPL Triple A action at Sea World. The standout performance belonged to Alaskan pitcher and Siilinjärvi, Finland, native Mainio Kyyro. Kyyro, now 5-2, was the winner. In 5 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 3, walking 4, and allowing 3 runs. Poom Saksansin got the save, the 2nd for him this season.
The Humpbacks grabbed the lead in the bottom of the first. With one out, Gage Jump, who is tied for 8th in the PAAA in extra base hits with 18, hit a 3-run home run off George Butler, putting Alaskan in front, 4-2. For Jump, it was his 11th home run of the season.
"Everyone's trying too hard," said losing manager Billy Strauss. "If we learn to relax, we'll be fine."
The Humpbacks are now 26-25, while the Dodos fall to 19-32.
