The Sacramento Redlegs had to overcome a fine performance from Kansas pitcher Miguel Aguirre to grab a 3-2 win at Sacramento Sanitation Station. Aguirre allowed 1 run over 5 innings. The Redlegs saw their record improve to 10-11.
Sacramento took a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the eighth inning. With one out, first baseman Mark Eckhardt hit a 2-run home run that set the crowd abuzz.
Afterward, Redlegs manager John Brown was ebullient. "That was a fun game to coach," he told a group of reporters, adding, "I hope it was just as fun to watch."
