Reserves Deal Redlegs 5-3 Loss
|
The Athletic Club KC Reserves picked up a win at Sacramento Sanitation Station, knocking off the Sacramento Redlegs, 5-3. On the mound for Athletic Club KC was right-hander Anthony Newman, who played a pivotal role in the win. Newman, now 3-0, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 3, walking 1, and allowing 2 runs. Richard Williams got the save, the 2nd for him this season.
The Reserves got a big hit from shortstop Todd Gallagher. In the top of the fifth, Gallagher pounded a bases-clearing triple to right. His 2nd triple of the season put the Reserves ahead, 4-0.
"There's never a lack of effort in our clubhouse. We're willing to do the little things to get the win," Gallagher told the Athletic Club KC Daily News.
With the win, Athletic Club KC lifts its record to 12-6.
