Lake Monsters Handle Blitzkrieg, 3-2
|
Vermont Lake Monsters starter Andrew Shoemaker turned in a sterling performance against the Port Huron Blitzkrieg, leading his team to a slim 3-2 win. Shoemaker, the winner, moves to 6-2. He threw 7.1 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 4 and giving up 6 walks. Wu-shun Feng, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 3rd save.
Dave Johns helped out the Vermont cause in the bottom of the sixth inning with a run-scoring walk. For the game, the second baseman was 1-2 with a double and 3 walks.
"Winning the game is always the first objective," Shoemaker said.
The win gives the Lake Monsters a record of 20-39.
