Syracuse Squirrel Monkeys starter Jeff Morehead was in fine form against the Baton Rouge Brass at The Zoo in Syracuse, leading his team to a win, 5-0. Morehead, now 1-0, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 3, walking 3, and allowing no runs. Syracuse, with the win, is 11-5.
Chad Holland had a critical at-bat with no one out in the bottom of the sixth for Syracuse. He came through with a 2-run home run to put Syracuse in front, 3-0.
Holland expressed little emotion after the game. "Every game we win now," he said, "is one less win we'll need to get in the end."
