Fighting Dachshunds Pull Off Thrilling 4-3 Win in Extras
|
Vermont got a decent performance from pitcher John Deemer, but it wasn't enough to beat the Ellenburg Fighting Dachshunds. Ellenburg won the Monster Field contest, 4-3. Deemer threw 8.1 innings of 4-hit ball for the losing team. Hai-liang Che, 2-1, earned the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. The losses continue to mount for Vermont, which has now dropped 6 in a row.
Ellenburg used the timely hitting of Raleigh Adams to seize the win. The center fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 12th inning to put the Fighting Dachshunds on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
In postgame comments, Adams said, "I think we gave the fans their money's worth."
