Knights Win by Slim Margin, 4-3
|
The Nolensville Knights had to overcome a fine effort from Pawnee pitcher Dudley Malone to grab a narrow 4-3 win at Nolensville Park. Malone went 6.1 innings and allowed 3 runs. The winner was Nolensville reliever Thomas Sangrey, now 1-0. The loser was Alfonso Medina. Fred Hardy was credited with the save for Nolensville, his 2nd of the season.
The game was at a stalemate until shortstop Cory Blatchford came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Pawnee pitcher Alfonso Medina, he hit a first pitch fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Nolensville on top, 4-3.
"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Nolensville manager Shawn Hicks.
The ParksNRec fall to 6-8 and continue to sputter in the early going.
