Booth Collects Cycle
|
It was a special day for Bill Booth at Dog Park in Ellenburg -- the Ellenburg Fighting Dachshunds shortstop hit for the cycle, getting every type of hit possible.
The 25-year-old Booth racked up 1 single, 1 double, 1 triple and 1 home run to get his name in the history books. It was all for naught, however, as the Fighting Dachshunds didn't win the ballgame, dropping the decision to the Milton Dogfish Head, 3-1.
"He hit everything we threw," said Milton manager Gonzalo Velásquez. "There was just no getting him out today."
For the game, he was 4-for-4 with 1 run batted in and 1 run scored.
"I'm glad for Bill," Ellenburg manager Justin Broadfoot said. "It's a once-in-a-lifetime thing and a nice feather in his cap. Would've been better if we could have won the game for him, too."
Speaking to the press after the game, Booth said the key for his record-setting day was "just getting some good pitches to hit."
Bill Booth singled in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Anthony Carney in the 4th, tripled in the 6th and doubled in the 8th.
Booth on the season is hitting .333 with 3 home runs. His stats include 5 RBIs and 5 runs scored.
