Blitzkrieg Sink Red Pandas, 3-0
|
Steve Sanford never let Sioux Falls get something going. The Port Huron right-hander commanded his cutter in pitching the Blitzkrieg to a 3-0 win. Sanford got the win, improving to 1-0. He allowed 5 hits and walked 1 over 7.1 innings. Sanford allowed no runs. The save went to Cristo Sánchez, his 1st this season.
The game could have flipped with one out in the top of the sixth. But Steve Sanford made what his manager later called "an A-plus pitch." With runners on 1st and 2nd and Sioux Falls trailing 3-0, Sanford threw a cutter to Gaballah Murunga and Murunga lined out.
Port Huron sits at 1-2.
