New Orleans took a 7-2 lead on Yamashita's 9th home run of the season. The grand slam home run, which he hit off Tom DeHart in the top of the eighth, propelled New Orleans to the win.

In comments to the New Orleans Citizen, Yamashita admitted he's been told to improve his work habits. "But," he said, "I know when to take it to another gear."
