Pegum Twirls a Gem for Oakland
|
Oakland starter Tom Pegum put a stranglehold on the D.C. offense. The right-hander had complete command of his slider in leading the Oaks to a 1-0 win. Andy Dundee locked down his 10th save. Oakland has an impressive 20-8 record.
Pegum, who dominated for Oakland, earned the victory to move to 1-0. He was in control the whole game, scattering 5 hits over 7.1 innings, while striking out 8. D.C. batters could never bunch up enough hits to produce a rally.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Oakland manager DAshley GoAs.
