Detroit Edges Kingston Township, 1-0, Martínez Ks 12
|
The Detroit Elite got a magnificent performance from pitcher José Martínez, who muffled the Kingston Township offense en route to a tight 1-0 Elite win at Cloverdale Legion Park. Getting the save was Jim Hicks, his 4th. Detroit has a mark of 8-6 after the win.
Martínez earned the win, going 8.1 strong innings for Detroit. The native of Pinar del Rio, Cuba, allowed just 1 hit, while striking out 12. Kingston Township hitters did next to nothing against the right-hander.
"I had pretty good command out there," said Martínez.
