Piranhas Stumble, Lose to Stingers
|
Toledo picked up a win at The Tank, toppling the Panama City Piranhas, 9-1. Pitcher Volmer Aalbers was one of the reasons the Stingers triumphed. In 7 innings, Aalbers surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 8 and walking 2. He allowed 1 run. The loss drops Panama City to 1-1.
Toledo used a well-timed hit by Meester Gobbles-Rooster to capture the win. The third baseman socked a bases-clearing double in the top of the first inning to put the Stingers ahead, 4-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"I wish every win came this easy," said Gobbles-Rooster.
