Coleman Brilliant, Blanks Fire
Sunday, July 26th , 2048
The Franklin Fire were almost helpless today in their 7-0 loss to the Ballard Beavers and hurler Will Coleman. Coleman kept the Fire confused all game, spinning a 3-hit shutout.
"Tip your hat to Coleman," Franklin manager Rafael Villalobos said in a postgame interview. "He kept us off balance all night."
The 20-year-old left-hander had 2 walks and 4 strikeouts in a strong performance.
"It just happened to be one of those games where even when I made mistakes, they either fouled them off or someone would make a fine defensive play," Coleman said. "It was just one of those games that things went my way."
So far this year Coleman has made 13 starts, tossed 95.2 innings, struck out 74 batters and walked 35. His record is 9-4 with a 2.45 ERA and he has limited opposing teams to a .216 batting average.
