Reserves End Atkins's Streak Monday, June 21st , 2049 It was a doubly miserable day today for Keith Atkins of the Norfolk Pajaritos, as he saw his 20-game hitting streak end and his team lose 5-4 to the Athletic Club KC Reserves at KC Reserve Stadium. The 22-year-old left fielder was held hitless in 3 at-bats by the Reserves. "Anyone on a 20-game hitting streak is going to be a tough out," Athletic Club KC manager Roy Clay said later. "But we had a plan and we were careful about it, and got it done." This season Atkins is swinging the bat at a .342 rate with 53 hits in 155 at-bats. To date he has hit 20 home runs, scored 39 runs and driven in 40. |
