Gaines and Jerger Suspended for Free-for-All
Tuesday, September 21st , 2049
If there wasn't a history between Jeremy Gaines of Oakland and Fred Jerger of Thunder Bay, then there is one now. The incident between the two sparked a bench-clearing scrum with those two being the center of attention. Now they will miss 4 and 2 games respectively as a result of their actions. The league office announced their suspensions today.
"We're both really competitive," Gaines said later, "and sometimes things go a little too far because of it."
This season Gaines is swinging the bat at a .161 pace. He has hit 10 home runs and scored 19 times, while driving in 22. His on-base percentage is .264 and he has played in 58 games.
Jerger has nailed down 10 saves for the year. He has also totaled 51 strikeouts and 30 walks in 61 innings while registering a 5.75 ERA and a 3-7 won-lost record.
