Hawks Blank Walla Walla, Vázquez Winner Tuesday, August 24th , 2049 Everything clicked on the hill today for Jeff Vázquez as he hurled the Laredo Hawks to a 5-0 shutout win over the Walla Walla Walleye, limiting them to 3 hits while recording 5 strikeouts and yielding 2 walks. He overpowered some batters with fastballs and buckled knees with sharp breaking pitches. "We had our shot at him a couple of different times," Walleye manager Calvin Beck said. "We just weren't able to get to him." So far this season, Vázquez has logged a 5-3 record with a 2.73 ERA. He has started 10 games, hurled 62.2 innings and registered 42 strikeouts and 33 walks.
