Tom Smith Hurt, Out for Year Monday, August 9th , 2049 The doctors have spoken and Tom Smith of the Grim Reapers didn't like what he heard. The 22-year-old starting pitcher is almost certainly gone for the rest of the year and depending on his progress could miss some of next season as well. Smith sustained his season-ending injury during the Cut Off Crawdads game yesterday at Crawdads Field. He had to leave the game because he hurt himself while throwing a pitch. Today the Grim medical staff reported Smith had a torn ulnar collateral ligament and would be absent from the lineup for at least 11 months. To date this season Smith sports a 7-2 mark with a 3.27 ERA in 0 starting assignments. He has held the opposition to a .263 batting average and has 78 strikeouts in 88 innings. |
