Burrell Batters MSL Seattle for 5 Hits
Sunday, August 23rd , 2048
5 hits in a game has always been a big milestone in baseball -- 5 hits in a game gets a player's name in the record book, win or lose. Keith Burrell got his name recorded today, but the MSL Seattle Rocketeers picked up the win at MSL Colorado Ballpark, topping the MSL Colorado Billy Goats, 9-6.
"He bushwhacked us," said winning manager Mike Preston. "We were lucky to come out ahead."
Burrell spoke to reporters in the clubhouse following the game, saying his nerves only set in once he was on the cusp of the milestone.
"I got too much adrenaline going when I realized that this could be a once-in-a-lifetime day," the first baseman said. "I think the coaches could tell I was going to be ready to swing at anything close. That's why my third base coach told me to calm down and wait for a good pitch. That got me back on track."
Keith Burrell hit a two-run single in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
To date this season Burrell is hitting .324 with 1 home run.
