USSL Mexican Summer League Names Nelson Best Batter
Monday, June 15th , 2048
With some great hand-eye coordination and a sweet, compact swing, MSL Detroit Elite third baseman Daniel Nelson took the USSL Mexican Summer League by storm this past week to take the latest Player of the Week honors.
"The ball was looking like a beach ball all week," a happy Nelson said to BNN reporters. "When it's that big, it doesn't matter where they throw it -- I can hit it anywhere."
The 16-year-old third baseman hit .625 (5-for-8) last week with 2 home runs, 9 RBIs and 4 runs scored.
Nelson is hitting at a .458 mark this season. His stats show 2 home runs, 12 RBIs and 6 runs scored. He has played 10 games for the Elite.
