Grey Wolves End Calderón's Streak Tuesday, September 1st , 2048 MSL Boston third baseman Ernesto Calderón came into today's game against the MSL Vancouver Grey Wolves on a hot streak. He left on a cold one. The Grey Wolves did their jobs well, beating the MSL Boston Patriots 10-6 and holding Calderón hitless to snap his 22-game hitting streak. The 16-year-old third baseman had a few words to say after finishing 0-for-2, telling reporters only that he "came up short." "What Ernesto did was exciting and quite an achievement," said Patriots manager César López. "It's tough enough to get one hit in this league, much less go 22 games in a row. I'm even more proud of the way he handled the press coverage. He never let the frenzy get to him or affect his play." This year Calderón has hit at a .451 clip with 78 hits, 2 home runs, 25 RBIs and 43 runs scored. |
