Great Day for Vela -- 5 Hits Tuesday, August 18th , 2048 After a 5-hit effort to lead MSL Athletic Club KC's 17-2 victory over the MSL Vancouver Grey Wolves, center fielder Adrián Vela told BNN beat writers it had been "a special day." "It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college, two hits in a game is nice," he said. "Three or four is better, but five or more is out of sight. And to do that at the USPL Mexican Summer League-level is really something special." The 17-year-old player earned his accolades today at MSL ACKC Ballpark with a spectacular 5-for-6 game against the Grey Wolves. "His swing is getting there," said U-18 skipper Gil Schmidt, who spoke glowingly of Vela after the game. "We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Adrián did that to perfection today." Adrián Vela singled in the 1st, flied out in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, singled in the 5th, singled in the 6th and hit an RBI single in the 7th.
