García Goes Hitless, Streak Stopped at 20 Sunday, July 5th , 2048 Late in the game, all eyes in MSL San Mateo Ballpark were on Lúcio García as he stepped into the batter box. His 20-game hitting streak was on the line, and he had a zero in the hit column on the day. Sadly for García, it was not meant to be -- the zero would stay and the streak would end. If there was a silver lining for García today, it was that his MSL San Mateo Dirty Reds won the game anyway, stopping the MSL Mississippi Mockingbirds by the score of 7-1. "Winning took some of the disappointment out of it," García told reporters in the clubhouse. "Looking back on it, it was a great experience. Not too many players can say they had a hit in 20 straight games. It's something I will always remember." Currently García is batting .363 with 2 home runs and 21 RBIs. |
