20-Game Streak Ends, Reese Hitless
Sunday, July 19th , 2048
Late in the game, all eyes in Shockers Field were on Donnie Reese as he stepped into the batter box. His 20-game hitting streak was on the line, and he had a zero in the hit column on the day. Sadly for Reese, it was not meant to be -- the zero would stay and the streak would end.
If there was a silver lining for Reese today, it was that his Canonniers de Quebec won the game anyway, stopping the Surprise Shockers by the score of 1-0.
"Winning took some of the disappointment out of it," Reese told reporters in the clubhouse. "Looking back on it, it was a great experience. Not too many players can say they had a hit in 20 straight games. It's something I will always remember."
During the current season Reese is batting at a .314 clip with 11 home runs and 36 RBIs. He has played in 61 games and scored 42 times.
