Fernández Crushes 3 Homers Against Plattsburgh Wednesday, July 29th , 2048 Hicksville Hounds shortstop Nelson Fernández put on a dazzling display of power today at Plattsburgh Park against the Plattsburgh Puffer Fish. In the 8-0 Hounds victory Fernández penned his name into the record books, slamming a trio of home runs in one of baseball's finest single-day efforts. "He can hit them out anywhere, right, center, left, it doesn't matter," Plattsburgh manager Wallace James said. "He's super strong and stays on the ball so well." Along with his three home runs, the 20-year-old had 4 hits in 5 at-bats, 7 RBIs and 3 runs scored. "Life will always throw you curves, just keep fouling them off," Fernández said after the game, when asked about his hitting philosophy. "The right pitch will come, and when it does, be prepared to run the bases. Or trot around them, like I did today." Nelson Fernández hit a three-run home run off Victor Emondt in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Victor Emondt in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 5th, grounded out in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off Sebastian Brown in the 9th. So far this season Fernández has hit .254 with 26 home runs, 71 RBIs and scored 42 times. |
