Owen Wins PA- Top Pitcher Award Saturday, August 1st , 2048 Any time a rookie makes a splash on the scene, it's got to be great for his career potential. Just ask Doug Owen, who put together a stellar month out of the pen. The Ogallala Octopi reliever, 20, kept the opposition off balance all month as he held them to a .167 average and walked away with the USPL Low A Pitcher of the Month award for July. Owen posted a 4-0 mark and a 1.59 ERA in 11 relief appearances. In 22.2 innings, he had 1 save, 37 strikeouts, and 5 walks. To this point in the season, Owen has put up these figures: 5-2 record, 35 relief appearances with 64 innings, 7 saves, 102 strikeouts, 18 walks and a 2.11 ERA. He has limited other teams to a .204 batting average. |
