Big 3-HR Day for Ortíz Thursday, July 16th , 2048 It was a good day for the Ogallala Octopi and an exceptional one for Manuel Ortíz. The 20-year-old right fielder sent three bombs out of the park to help the Octopi beat the Beaumont Crossbeaus 9-8 at The Target. "When you're in the zone, the game really slows down," Ortíz said when asked about his performance later. "I couldn't even tell you what pitches were thrown. Today feels great, but it is a long season and tomorrow is another day." For the day, he scored 3 times, drove in 6 runs and smacked 4 hits in 5 at-bats. Manuel Ortíz hit a solo-shot off Ricardo Romo in the 2nd, flied out in the 3rd, hit a three-run home run off Ricardo Romo in the 5th, singled in the 7th and hit a two-run home run off Alex Thompson in the 9th. For the year Ortíz has hit .271 with 20 home runs, 53 RBIs and scored 45 runs. |
