Dunne Clobbers 3 HR Against Ogres Sunday, May 31st , 2048 The old superstition that "bad news comes in threes" certainly came true for the Olympia Ogres today. Mercer Island first baseman Connor Dunne tripled up on the home runs to propel the Screaming Eagles to the 9-3 win at The Ogre Den. "We had our chances to win the game, but we just didn't come through," Olympia manager Steve Ward said. "Dunne hit the heck out of the ball." In addition to the homers, Dunne collected 3 hits in 5 at-bats, 5 RBIs and scored 3 runs. "Easy swings get you home runs," he said after the game. "I kept telling myself not to press. They have to be nice and easy swings." Connor Dunne flied out in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Flavio Lapo in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Flavio Lapo in the 5th, hit a two-run home run off Juan Barrón in the 7th and struck out in the 9th. This year Dunne is hitting .272 with 9 home runs and 23 RBIs in 24 games played. He also boasts an OBP of .343 with 9 walks and 18 runs scored. |
