SAA's Best Player Selected, It's Derksen
Wednesday, October 7th , 2048
At the age of 25, Freek Derksen of the Gwinnett Guinea Pigs could very well have his best years ahead of him.
It's a startling thought when you consider the year he had in 2048 was good enough to win the right fielder the USSL Double A Outstanding Hitter Award.
"See the ball, hit the ball," he said. "That's my basic approach."
The top hitter put up a .279 batting average this year, as well as a .358 on-base percentage. He played 100 games and racked up 107 hits, 27 doubles, 1 triple, 25 home runs, 81 RBIs and 66 runs scored.
He received 5 first place votes out of a possible 10. Jay Harris of the Gwinnett Guinea Pigs finished second in voting with 2 first place votes, while Luis Concepción of the Gwinnett Guinea Pigs finished third with 1 first place vote.
