Espinoza Is SL's Best Rookie
Tuesday, November 3rd , 2048
Last spring Marcos Espinoza was happy to just make the Billy Goats roster. He was overjoyed to see the name "Espinoza" on the lineup card, too. Now the 25-year-old Colorado catcher has capped off his debut season by winning the coveted United States Silver League Newcomer of the Year Award.
Espinoza won the award by hitting .326 and collecting 103 hits, 9 home runs, 44 RBIs and 16 walks, along with 40 runs scored and a .364 on-base percentage.
Alexander Karshev of the Seattle Rocketeers finished second in voting, while Rafael Trujillo of the Buffalo White Walkers finished third.
