Chávez Pounds 3 HR Against Generals Saturday, July 4th , 2048 It was a terrific day today for Carlos Chávez, who ripped three home runs at Belleville Field, and a disappointing one for the Belleville Bulls who nevertheless dropped the game to the Washington Generals. "He was instant offense today," Belleville skipper Edward Whipp said. "Carlos really put on a show. He more than did his part. We just didn't come through with hits at the right time to win the game." For the day, Chávez collected 3 hits in 5 at-bats, scored 3 runs and had 4 RBIs. In the postgame press conference he told the reporters he has always liked to hit at Belleville Field. "I got some good pitches to hit and turned on them real good," he said. Carlos Chávez struck out in the 1st, grounded out in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Don Lucas in the 6th, hit a solo-shot off Chiah-jen Fu in the 8th and hit a two-run home run off Chiah-jen Fu in the 9th. So far this year in 5 games Chávez is hitting .238 with 3 home runs, 5 RBIs and 7 runs scored. |
