Riley Gets 5 Hits
Sunday, September 6th , 2048
Gerald Riley was at the head of a Nova Scotia hit parade today at The Dungeon in Halifax. The first baseman went to the plate 5 times and came away with 5 hits, sparking the Leviathan to a 14-10 victory over the San Mateo Dirty Reds.
"I told the guys in the dugout, just be thinking about hitting the ball hard somewhere," the sweet-swinging Riley told reporters after the game. "Seems like it worked out well for us today."
Dirty Reds skipper David Dodds said later that the club gave up "too much plate."
"Not the way we planned it," he said. "Every hitter in the league will rip you when you do that."
Gerald Riley hit an RBI double in the 1st, hit a three-run home run off Nam-shik Kwak in the 2nd, doubled in the 4th, doubled in the 6th and hit a three-run home run off Eric Colquhoun in the 8th.
This season Riley is batting .287 with 77 hits and 24 home runs. He has scored 43 times and has 54 RBI.
