Knights Squelch Battery Offense in Shutout Win
|
MSL Kingston Township starter Archie Whitaker put a stranglehold on the MSL Charleston offense. The left-hander had complete command of his splitter in leading the Knights to a 5-0 win. Whitaker, now 1-3, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 9 hits, while striking out 3, walking 2, and allowing no runs. Fernando Márquez finished the game for MSL Kingston Township and earned his 1st save.
Tom Scott had a productive at-bat in the top of the fifth inning. With runners on 1st and 2nd, the MSL Kingston Township third baseman hit a run-scoring single. It made the score 1-0, and led to the win.
"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," Scott said after the game.
The victory makes MSL Kingston Township 2-10.
