MSL New Orleans Ballpark was the site of the home opener for the MSL New Orleans Voodoo. The contest featured a prime matchup between Oeke Markus of the visiting MSL Charleston Battery and Vincent Sturm of the Voodoo. The final score was 5-2, the Battery getting the win. Oeke Markus turned in the best performance. Markus, now 1-0, was the winner. In 5.2 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 4, walking 3, and allowing 1 run.

It could have been a different outcome for MSL Charleston, had it not been for Hoshi Ojima, the 17-year old catcher . Ojima contributed a run-scoring triple in the top of the fourth inning to put MSL Charleston up, 2-0.

"Our goal is to improve each and every day," Ojima told the MSL Charleston Times.
