Belcher Stars for Kingfishers in 11-4 Win
|
The 11-4 MSL Pittsburgh win over MSL Detroit was due largely to Theo Belcher. The Kingfishers left fielder went 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 3 runs and drove in 2. The winning pitcher was Rafael Villanueva. He's now 5-1. He went 7.2 innings, allowing 4 runs on 11 hits for the Kingfishers. With the win over MSL Detroit, the Kingfishers improved to 25-17.
Despite the loss, the Elite got an encouraging performance from 16-year-old Vicente Ruíz. In the top of the seventh, he hit a 2-run single to make the score 8-3, MSL Pittsburgh. "It's not easy for a young guy to go out there and perform," Elite manager Mark Tillman said. "But he did it like one of the vets."
