Lighthouse Down Bullets, 6-4
|
The 6-4 Long Island win over Baltimore was due largely to Mathew Mayo. The Lighthouse first baseman was 1-2 with a home run and 2 walks. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Harvey Wyles, now 4-1, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 2 hits in 3.1 innings. The win gives Long Island a season record of 34-28.
Mayo had a timely hit for Long Island in the bottom of the seventh. With Baltimore trailing 4-3, he turned a 2-2 splitter into a 2-run home run. It was his 9th home run of the season, making it 5-4, Long Island.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Mayo told the Long Island Daily.
