Pandas Fall Short, 6-5, at MSL Pittsburgh
|
The 6-5 MSL Pittsburgh win over MSL Montana was due largely to Gerben Pauw. The Kingfishers right fielder was 2 for 5 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Carlos Vázquez, who went 7 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 5 runs on 9 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 6. His record now stands at 4-2. Balltesar Marmeleira sewed up the save, his 3rd.
Pauw contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for MSL Pittsburgh in the bottom of the fourth. With his team trailing 4-3, Pauw took a sinker from Francisco Ledesma and stroked the home run to right. His 3rd home run of the season allowed the Kingfishers to leap in front, 6-4.
"We took advantage of our opportunities," Pauw told the MSL Pittsburgh Observer. "It's as simple as that."
MSL Pittsburgh has now won 3 straight, while the Pandas have lost 3 in a row.
